I knew him from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, but I was not familiar with The Byrds. But R.E.M and the Gin Blossoms from the 90’s had to have been influenced by them, at least I get that vibe from this song with some of their work. Thanks, I know what I’ll be listening to today 
That’s sad news indeed. When I was growing up I had CSNY - 4 Way Street. Excellent Double Live Album!
