What is much more interesting is the comeback of vinyl.

Lacking of the original matrizes (tapes) CDs are used for the “new vinyl” records.

We all know that CDs are lacking of sound the original old vinyls have.
Someone here published an interesting article of these kind of "reproduction"s.

I’m wondering if there will be a comeback of shellac records soon!

I was the first person I knew to have CD’s. I was definitely an early adopter.

Let me tell you the first CD’s were on the harsh side as well! They were just ported over from vinyl, not remastered.

Oh no. I’m so old. Thanks for sharing

Many love the “crackle” of a vinyl, so do I!
“Remastering” is always a kind of “operation”.
Purists do not like!

In some cases its necessary if the recording is very poor (eg from TV-recordings)

Since the recordings I was buying were recorded on Analog Tape. They needed to digitally remastered or they sounded harsh. I think it was just quicker and easier to just port them over.

yes this post makes me very old indeed how do i talk about when CDs first came out with the grandchildren when I tell them I am only 29 hmmmm how much longer will they believe it when my son is soon to be 38 lol
