Pairing iPod and app with Flare

New to Soundcore - I can pair my new Flare with my iPod and I can pair the Flare with the app on my iPhone, but I can’t pair the two at the same time. I should be able to do that, shouldn’t I?

A quick search on Soundcore website’s Flare listing gave me the answer:

Short answer: no

You’ll have to click the bluetooth button to enter pairing mode again and manually pair to other device
