“Poison drummer Rikki Rockett is sticking up for fellow drummer/tourmate Tommy Lee, who has been dealing with broken ribs and cannot play for the entirety of Motley Crue’s set on the Stadium Tour.”
A good professional drummer can play in every band.
We were swapping drummers often in our band scene if there was a need.
Was no problem, as mostly we know the songs were played.
I understand what you’re saying, but I think some drummers were UN-replaceable because they were just better than everyone else.
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Neil Peart (Rush) come to mind.
Nice reading. Thanks for sharing
Yes but if there is a real need for a substitute it can be done.
Same is the rhythm guitar.
When in an opera performance one of the singers gets sick there are others who can do the job, if they know the part well. May be the make some errors when acting the part, but not when singing.
It happens not often but it happens.
I remember when the local star Jonas Kaufmann here in München caught a cold and could not sing there was a substitute.
He made a pretty good job, but the audience was very disappointed ,
as they payed a lot of money for the ticket and “the star” didn’t show up.
