Android is more secure than iOS depending on the manufacturer (Pixels and Samsung devices really stand out here). However Android devices don’t get as long a lifespan official update wise compared to iOS.
Pixel devices generally get 2-3 years worth of security updates with 1-2 years worth of major Android updates.
However, the best part about android is the community can update the devices themselves. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S2 which was released in 2011 just got Android 10 recently through third party development. Can’t really see any iOS devices getting 9 years worth of updates there.
