Twitchy, music, and copyright

Another case of being careful what you try to control. Music is at the heart of many good games, just as it is for movies and TV. But the rights don’t cover streaming live playing of the games, so twitch is getting blasted with thousands of notices from automated dmca monitoring systems.

Somehow this has to change… Maybe a system where the creator can be compensated, rather than having the power to shut down all use of their creation? The power to stop anyone from reusing work seems excessive.

It is a bit sad for everyone who has to deal with these workarounds.

I’d imagine this won’t be the last we hear about the music industry going after twitch or any other platform for that matter… discord might be next up n the near future…
