You should play around with the EQ you use.
There is no “best EQ” because the hearing ability and the quality of your recordings may differ to those of others.

But also human perception is plastic based on prior experiences, so if you habitually listen to, say, bass heavy sounds, your brains maps that sound out so you don’t hear it as well.

Also it is something of a contradiction, as in the artist decided to make a genre of music, say “metal” so they already tweaked to get the sound they want. So if you listen to that genre in other than flat EQ you’re in effect saying you know better than the artist.
EQ is thus a gimmick wrapped in a personally created bias.
I’ll agree with the others for the mast part. We can’t tell you what will sound best to you. My advice would be to experiment with the EQ until you find something you like.
