Can't sign into Soundcore app

Just purchased a Motion+ to replace an original SoundCore.
Having a very different onboarding experience.

First couldn’t get Motion+ to pair properly with my Win10 laptop until accessing a forum and learning about the 3 - 5 second Bluetooth button/VOL + step.

Got it connected, but still cannot get the Android app to let me log in. Keep getting “An error occurred” message.
I’ve uninstalled/re-installed the app a few times, restarted phone, etc. No change.
Credentials sign me into the web interface with no problem.

[First thing this morning, couldn’t get Motion+ to connect to laptop. It logged as paired in the Bluetooth page but would not connect until I reset/re-paired.]

Love the sound but my impatience with the connection issues is growing rapidly.
