I have two ‘normal’ SCMBs without those problems.
The effect is even worse, when I use custom eq settings.

Try another device and connect with the speaker.
If the issue is still there contact the support.
brand new = warranty.
Unsure if there may be an update. So you may want to check that as well.
There may have been an issue found during the usability test of the device. (more or less the beta testing) and would need to be updated once the device was received…
This is the first I’ve heard of that. If after trying the above suggestions you’re still having issues, I’d contact Customer Support.
I would contact support as suggested by others.
