Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro - TS1 Review

This is going to be my first ever Soundcore review… go easy on me in the comments .

Packaging:
Upon opening the amazon package that these
came in, I was greeted with a really impressive box.
The surface of the box was very tactile, it seems like
it is embossed, and exudes quality.

Opening the L2P box was quite easy, a magnetic
clasp on the side holds the side flap snug to the
box. It opens up to reveal some cool graphics
showing the Astria coaxial acoustic architecture
(say that 5 times fast, impress your friends…).

The case and the earbuds are presented sharply
on the top of the box behind a clear cover.

The case and earbuds, are in a tray which is easily
removed to reveal the rest of the contents. Beneath
the tray sits another tray, housing some cushions and
fins. Typically I have only ever saw 2 sets of each with
a pair of earbuds, to provide a modicum of fittings.
The liberty 2 pros have 2 pairs of the aforementioned
fins, but an astonishing 6 pairs of cushions. This is
in addition to those already installed on the earbuds.

Lastly, there is a USB C charging cable, and the standard literature.

Verdict on packing: A
I like the tactile feel of the box, the items are well
presented and with the massive number of ear
cushions, I feel fitment will be very easy.

Fitment:
With all of the options for cushions and fins, I was
quite surprised that the earbuds fit almost perfectly
out of the box. No need to try out the other options.
This felt odd, as my only other pair of earbuds, needed
a few iterations to fit as well. (No they weren’t soundcore… :disappointed:).

Verdict on fitment: A+
Very surprised on the fit right out of the box, I feel
this isn’t normal for most other earbuds. Good to
know if I need to adjust fitment later, that I will have
a lot of configurations to try out.

Case:
Quick little blurb about the case… it doesn’t flip
open like other cases, which had me baffled for a
brief moment.

It slides back, similar to a convertible
top on a nice car. The case has a USB C port on the
back, along with the reset button. On the front is a
bank of 3 LED lights which show status of the case
battery when the lid is open. Shows the status of the
earbuds when closed (and not at full charge).

Case charges quite quick on standard USB port in about
2.5 hrs when needed. Seems to last for a weeks worth
of listening.

Verdict on case: A
Took me a while to get used to the slide back lid.
Case is small, and a smooth finish. Doesn’t tend to
show fingerprints too badly.

Now I’m sure you’re getting ancy, saying hey Snarky,
get to the goods… alright… here we go… well not quite… lol

Earbuds:
The earbuds are of a decent size, and have a press
button on the top of each to serve as control of the
various functions. I was a bit disappointed that these
don’t have touch control on the sides of the earbuds,
my lower priced earbuds (similar to the soundcore dots)
have touch control and I quite like it.

With that in mind, the buttons are located such, that
there is no pressure put on the ear when skipping tracks
or pausing. From what I found out after some time, is that
the soundcore app (yes there is an app) allows you to
adjust the function of the buttons to control volume…
These fit in the ear quite well, and don’t require a lot
of fussing about to get them locked in place. The proper
combo of tips and cushions lock them in quite well for
outside activity, which would have shook loose lesser
earbuds.
As these are a bit bigger, they are more noticeable
when wearing. However, I don’t mind that as they are
comfortable for all day wear.

Verdict on earbuds: B
Sad that these don’t have touch control. Comfortable
fit and can wear these all day without issue.

Pairing:
I have paired these with ease to my iPhone SE as
well as my iPad. With my phone being the main device
I use these with. Interesting that either will pair to the
device and the other pairs to the first. This is such, that
you can use either independent of the other as needed. Cool.

Verdict on pairing - B
Pretty standard for TWS earbuds, multipoint would
move this up to A+ in my opinion.

Sound quality:
I’ve been listening to a lot of varying music. Lots of
country, rock, classical and such. Some current songs
I am listening to:

I am not somebody who likes to listen to my music
loud, and these earbuds do well at both low and high
volume. These earbuds, hands down have the best
sound going. My other pair is comparable on the bass,
but lack in the mid and upper range (where the L2Ps
seem to excel). This is even without the use of the app,
which adds custom eq functionality to really open up the
sound stage of these earbuds. Pssst you can see what I’m
listening to on Spotify… The Snarky Conjecture - Spotify .

Verdict on sound: A
Will have to try out the hearID and custom eq settings
through the app, and fully unlock the potential of these guys.

Battery life:
I have yet to run the earbuds out of juice in the course
of a day of listening. I alternate between left and right at times.
Sometimes in have both in at the same time. With low
volume ~25%, I can say I get the 8 hrs as advertised. And
with the case, I can easily get a full week of listening before
having to charge the case.

Verdict on battery life: A+
I don’t know of many other earbuds out there that can
offer up a full days worth listening before having to charge,
nee a full weeks worth with the case.

Bluetooth range:
This is where I feel these earbuds are way above those
others on the market. I have tested these at both home
and work. At home, I have been able to get 50ft with
stable connection, despite no line of site, and having to
connect through solid concrete icf walls. iPad on the window
sill inside the house, and me walking to the rubbish bin on
the front drive.

At work, I can go 40ft towards toward the loo, down
two flights of stairs and another 40+ ft to the lab, and
still have stable connection via Bluetooth 5.0.

This is not / should not be possible?!?!?!

Verdict on BT range: A+++

Lastly, one thing that people have been asking for is
active noise cancellation. In my opinion I don’t think that
is necessary. At work, with both earbuds in, and low
volume, I don’t hear much of the goings on around me.
At home, with one earbud in at bed time, it keeps me
from hearing the zzzzzz’s from my partner :innocent:.

Superb passive noise cancellation thanks soundcore .

Final overall verdict of the liberty 2 pros: A
The main features that stand out for me are the sound
quality, battery life and Bluetooth range. The fitment
and small case were also very good compared to my
other set. I’m not swayed by the packing much, as I’m
not buying something for how it’s packaged. And though
I was a bit sad about not having touch control, I have since
grown to like the way at which the buttons are set in to
earbuds and are comfortable to use.

Although I received these as a giveaway prize
(thanks soundcore ) the above is my honest and
truthful opinion about the liberty 2 pros. I hope you
found this informative, and maybe persuaded you to
invest in a pair. I have yet to use the app and have not
the need to change ear tips. I’m sure as time passes I
may explore the app in more detail. I feel that my earbuds
are pretty well set for future use as well.

Thanks for your time.

Great detailed review! Touch control on Dot 2 are good but sometimes it hurts your ear if you tap tad too hard so I generally prefer buttons placed above or below like L2P. Your review reminds me that I still have to write 2 reviews that I was planning but school is taking good chunk of my time :joy:

Enjoy your earbuds and hope to see more reviews in future (maybe Flare 2 next month if you get in top 2 this month )!
