Will Soundcore Life Q30 get a firmware update?

Message 73 above is the official response - it’s a phased rollout so just wait.

Message 93 above shows the supported platform you see the Windows upgrade path is not for the Q30

Message 95 shows what an upgrade looks like, in my case I tried a couple of days apart and eventually got.

Got the FW 1.80 this morning! Microphones are now much, much better than before!
I don’t understand, why they released the Q30 wich such a bad microphone software (before 1.80)? QA process missing?

Nevertheless - great ANC headphones for the money! Compared to TaoTronics TT-BH085 and TT-BH090!
I like the possibility to update the firmware, the overall design (also the buttons  ), the hybrid ANC, BT 5.0, …

:+1: :grinning:

I got my Q30 from post office this morning and it’s amazing. 1.80 really improved microphone quality. Q30 generally looks awesome but plastic material feels really cheap when you touching as reviewers said. Overall, it’s really price/performance product. Thanks to Anker.

I think the problem is the aggressive noise cancelling for the microphone, not the mic itself. I didn’t get to test the mic until after I updated the firmware. It still lets out a low-frequency puffing sound at the start of call, but otherwise sounds very good!

I received my Q30 recently. Very impressed by its feature set. I feel like the Dyplay Urban Traveller 2 still has much better ANC than these, but also have a louder hiss, and the sound with ANC is quite lean and bright. The Q30 has a deeper bass and more versatile sound. It also doesn’t power off after a minute of inactivity like the Dyplays.

I’m 100% sure that this was the culprit. Noise gate and noise filtering were way overdone. Now that it’s all dialed back, the (imo) fantastic sounding mic really shines.

Soundcore Life Q30 Mic Fixed (Compared with Bose and Sony) Firmware v1.8

This is an excellent reference point, and should probably have its own thread…

Here are a few things I would like to see in a future firmware update, if possible:

  • Simultaneous multipoint connection. Right now they support multipoint but only connect to the most recent device so you need to manually. The most irritating issue at the moment is that the second device connected has inconsistent volume - it will usually sound like medium volume but when I initially adjust the volume it jumps to 100%
  • I can’t power off the headphones when they have a cable plugged in and are powered on. Unplugging the cable will automatically power it off.
  • A quick conversation ambient mode would be nice, where the music can temporarily drop in volume. Currently when ambient sound is turned on, the tuning becomes the same as ANC-off, which means there’s too much bass and I have to turn down the volume

I got it also!

1.90?
What features?

This update has some improvements for Mac users. Nothing very special actually.

I just got them and update it right away to the 1.9 firmware.
Is there a hissing sound available on your life q30’s when ANC is on and no music is playing.
The hissing sound goes away when i turn ANC off.

I updated the headphones as well and hiss is there and always was, but it’s not annoying. Regarding the microphone - am I deaf or is the echo much more audible when using the microphone? According to release notes, update should fix echo, but I think that there is more echo after update  Or maybe “improve echo problem” means add more echo to microphone recordings

“Improve” is a really ambiguous word sometimes…

Echo is definitely better (is gone) with 1.9 as far as my counterpart told me.

The hissing sound is present on my Q30’s in ANC mode as well - it’s noticeable esp. if you are in a quiet environment. But isn’t that a feature of all ANC headphones? Or was this hissing not present in previous firmware versions?

Thanks for your response. I cant tell if this hissing is normal on all ANC headphones since this is my first ANC product that I’ve owned. I only notice it in a quiet environment when no music is playing, so all good…

Yeah, they are my first ANC headphones as well but my friend who owns Sony XM4’s tells me that there’s a hissing sound present in his headphones as well… Only question is if this hissing sound is quieter in Sony’s than it is in Q30’s or not.
